College is an extremely exciting period of time for anyone that experiences it. However it is not all fun and partying, and in order to survive those four years you must use your head and be careful. Everything from alcohol to roommates can affect college life, so be aware and follow these tips for a successful college career.

1. Adjusting - The first few weeks of school tend to be the hardest and most odd. After living one way your entire life, you are forced into this zoo of students known as a dorm. Do the best you can in order to get used to this lifestyle, even though it may not be easy. Find quiet areas in the dorm or just people you can relate to. This can make college much more enjoyable.

2 Classes - Too many college students tend to overlook this simple factor. For some reason, when people get to college, they start to believe that going to class isn’t really necessary. While some schools do not necessarily have an attendance policy, it is extremely important to actually go to class. You are the one who is paying for these classes, so you are losing money every time you skip class. Also, if you actually go to class it makes it much easier to do well and make good grades.

3. Roommate Survival & Roommate Tips - Usually first-year college students are required to live on-campus with a roommate for their first 2 semesters. This can be a bit scary living with a total stranger, but it is not as bad as it seems. There are some danger signs to look out for as far as roommates which can be difficult. Some key factors to watch for are hygiene, sleeping hours, strange smells and illegal activity. If anything is getting too out of hand, don’t hesitate to contact your RA or the housing program. More than likely you can find a new room easy and free.

4. Solve your Money Problems - As a student, there are countless financial obligations you must commit to. But with going to lots of classes during the week, how can you be expected to pay for all these things? As a college student I found a great way to make a lot of money just in my free time.
